My passion for the outdoors started at a very young age with camping and canoe expeditions with my parents. I began rock climbing at the Gunks in the late 70’s and was instantly hooked. College was spent in Plymouth, NH where I earned a degree in Physical Geography/Business and Climbing! Nearly everything we climbed at Rumney back then was a first ascent, the famous bolted sport routes didn’t exist yet! To round out my formative climbing experience, Cannon Cliff, Lake Willoughby and N. Conway offered a superb variety of traditional rock and ice routes.
My professional life started in 1983 in NJ at Campmor as a climbing buyer, and then as a store manager. In 1987 after climbing Ama Dablam, I moved back to NH and began working for International Mountain Equipment. At IME I was a buyer and catalog director, and began guiding part-time for International Mountain Climbing School. During that time I also began flying paragliders; competing in both the US and Canadian Nationals, and becoming the first New England pilot to obtain a USHGA advanced instructor tandem rating.
In 1989 I founded Sky Ambitions, LLC. Originally the business was a part-time endeavor based around a goal of combining my personal passions for climbing and paragliding. Sky Ambitions offered technical rock climbing ascents with paraglider descents, and tandem flights. When outdoor equipment manufacturers began seeking technical sales representation, Sky Ambitions evolved into a sales rep agency, leaving the paragliding part of the business behind. Sky Ambitions now employs 5 people across the Northeastern US and Canada.
I am one of the lucky few that has a hard time separating work from play!
